MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) — Police are investigating after a woman claims an Uber Eats driver who delivered an order to her house over the weekend drove away with her one-year-old emotional support dog, King.

Police in Memphis were called to a home on Fuller Road in the airport area Saturday morning, and photos of the missing 13 lb. male, black Shih Tzu have been shared on Facebook.

According to police, the victim ordered some alcohol from Kings Liquor Store via the Uber Eats app. At around 10 a.m., the driver, listed only by his first name on the app, delivered the order.

Zenobia Savage stated that when she went outside to retrieve her order, her dog King followed her out the door.

Zenobia told officers she saw the Uber Eats driver petting her dog, and while she was checking her order, the driver sped away, and the dog was missing.

Zenobia later told WREG she saw the driver take the dog. This is not referenced in the police report.

“I saw him turn around with the dog and put him in the car,” said Zenobia. “I was trying to tell the officer at the time, but there was so much going on, I was in disbelief and hurt, and I couldn’t think straight. Officers came right after it happened.”

Zenobia’s mother said she gave the dog to her daughter a little over a year ago when it was just nine weeks old.

Yolanda Savage says her adult daughter is autistic and suffers from epilepsy. She said King been a source of calm and comfort and senses when her daughter is about to have a seizure.

“She’s not doing well at all,” Yolanda said. “She just had a seizure yesterday, and King was one of those dogs that would scratch at my door, and I know, so I’m going on with her.”

The victim told police they were able to identify the driver on Facebook. Officers took pictures of the victim’s dog and of the possible suspect via the victim’s cellphone.

Yolanda said they also filed a safety incident report with Uber Eats regarding the driver.

She said she got a tip that the dog had been spotted with a man on Airways. She is pleading with the person who has King to return her daughter’s dog.

“She needs him. She’s very sick. She has epilepsy, and you know, just bring my baby dog back. Please, and don’t hurt him. Just bring him back because she really, really needs him.” Yolanda said.

King was wearing a purple collar and tag with a phone number on it. The dog is not neutered and has some brown hair under his back legs.

WREG reached out to Uber Eats. Wednesday, a company spokesperson said they were still looking into the matter.
